Adjustable timing gears

It's a double, not a roller. Gear drive is too noisy, sounds like my power steering pump does when I start it in the morning.

Double as in...?

Double roller or single roller...

Nope, its a single roller.

Someone correct me if I am wrong on the "roller" part.

Well there are not that many timing chains that allow for stock operation of things... maybe three of them that I know of...

Odds are not with him... please post up when you find out which one you bought ...

That would be it.

IMO you should never replace the chain only, and stock pieces should always be upgraded when they are out...

Valvetrain?

Yes, I did.

Edit: Have you seen the cam he wants to stick in there? Maybe not 100% replace everything, but valvetrain parts seem to me like a good thing to upgrade...

Have you ever seen the specs Of the cam on my old car? Yes it was a 396 not a stock bottom end.

I don't wanna argue, was just saying, IMO valvetrain parts are not places to skimp on. Especially with a cam that will want a lot of RPM. Tis all I am saying.

The difference in the 93 LT1 is the opti!! It doesn't ride on the cam dowell and is non vented! I will inspect the timing gears for wear. It only has 83,000 miles and the timing chain probably last for 200,000!

Good plan, and 93's drive the opti with a spline drive I believe.

Its good you don't want to argue. You have come along way since you joined the forum. All I ask is that you guys pass on the knowledge you have gained from your time here. How much time was spent helping you learn? I know CKJ and others gave you tons of attention getting you up to speed.

And I appreciate it. :LS1LT1flag:

He was referring to me.

I just made the mistake of cheaping out on a few odds and ends when I first did my first work on the car, and it cost me later on.

Pump gas and emissions friendly are completely doable with both bigger valves and pistons.

I hear ya, you want that adjustable timing gear set now, don't ya:p!!!!!

Nope, if I wanted to drop a lot of money, I would get a Jesel belt timing set.

However, its much easier to pull or add timing through tuning. :p

Yes, something like that. ;)

And actually in your case, 93's would need chips burned to run the engine.
