so i finally went out and bought the parts to make my fan switch, and followed the diagram instructions from this site: http://www.xious.com/camaro/install-fanswitch.html

heres the problem, i have to turn the ac on to activate the switch. when i turn the ac on, one of the lights come on when the switch is in the center position, then i can flip it the other way and both fans come on. so i go out there later today and i put the key in and the battery is dead. i know the fans didnt stay on cause i waited and listened to see if they were still running when i got out earlier.

did anybody have similair problems with their install? can anybody maybe tell what i did wrong?

Do you have two LEDs with your setup?

I am going to take a guess that you are grounding out your +12v input for the LED(s) without going through one or both. If you can take a digital shot of your wiring I think it would be easy to tell you what you might have wrong. Right now there's not enough information.

Thanks Rob for the diagram. Although I'm not experiencing any DTCs right now with my 01 wire up, I'm still going to put the 47 ohm resistors in-line to the fan wire taps. It's off to Radio Shack I go. :)

One thing I really like about having those LEDs for the fan switch is that they come on without the switch being used when the fans activate through the pcm. It's not a big deal but it's another cool way to keep an eye on what's happening with the cooling system.

I don't have a fan switch on mine (I have my PCM reprogrammed to lower the ON settings), but I do have the LEDs to watch the fans. I like being able to watch what is going on, too. :)
